Please review post

The apparitions at La Salette were warnings about corruption in the Church and the growing faithlessness of society. Rome tried to suppress key aspects of this controversial message.

  1. A most beautiful hymn. Please pray for South Africa – Our Lady of the Assumption is the
    Patroness of our beautiful country.

  2. Meanwhile, Anthony, on today’s feast of Our Lady’s Assumption . . just so’s we don’t forget:

    “Pange, lingua, glorious . . . “ 13th C./ St. Thomas Acquinas/ see St. Matt. 26: 26, 28/ Transl.: Fr. E. Caswall, 1849/ Adam of St. Victor, late 12th C. (“Tantum ergo . . “ ) :

“Now, my tongue, the mystery telling/ Of the glorious Body sing./ And the Blood, all price excelling,/ Which the Gentiles’ Lord and King,/ In a Virgin’s womb once dwelling,/ Shed for the world’s ransoming.
“Given for us, and condescending/ To be born for us below,/ He, with men in converse blending,/ Dwelt the seed of Truth to sow,/ Till he closed with wondrous ending/ His most patient life of woe.
“That last night, as supper lying,/ ‘Mid the twelve, his chosen band,/ Jesus, with the Law complying,/ Keeps the feast its rites demand;/ Then, more precious Food supplying,/ Gives himself with his own hand./
“Word-made-flesh true bread he maketh/ By his word his Flesh to be;/ Wine his Blood; which whoso taketh/ Must FROM CARNAL THOUGHTS BE FREE;/ FAITH ALONE [born of Baptism], though sight forsaketh,/ Shows true hearts the mystery.”
[ . . final stanzas, from our more familiar Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament ]:

“Down in adoration falling,/ Lo! the sacred Host we hail,/ Lo! o’er ancient forms departing/ Newer rites of grace prevail;/ Faith for all defects supplying,/ Where the feeble senses fail.
To the everlasting Father,/ And the Son Who reigns on high/ With the Holy Spirit proceeding/ Forth from each eternally,/ Be salvation, honour blessing, / Might and endless majesty. Amen.”
