SOUTH Africa isn’t the HEART of Africa.
South Africa’s Calvinist Dutch and Protestant
British roots [ a mere century “deep” ] amount
to the “weak link” in that Continent’s Christian
Faith, fidelity, and Missionary maintenance.
Diamonds . . Gold was the rocky “soil” receiving
the Seeds of the Gospel . . against which the
CATHOLIC “Ite Missa Est” [YOU — are sent !]
i.e. the EUCHARISTIC ferment of the Gospel, is
quickly parched, replaced by Marxist “renewal”
and materialism leaving the poor still in their
destitution.
A MORAL issue here . . as well as Pastoral.

Interesting. I will venture to speculate that the South African Bishops have chosen to dabble in modernism consequent to their cultural historical context – apartheid, racism , and Nelson Mandela. The aristocracy ( white Bishops ? ) were sidelined in the “new” social order ? Their posture in the present moment then reflects an adaptation to everything and anything “West” anchored in “social justice”?
I suspect , in a dynamic of evolving “freedom”, the politics demand adherence to the “program” . The choice of the “day” is to embrace all things which are in accordance with social goals of diversity , equity , and inclusion.
Their alignment with the papal nation state should be of no surprise ? The South African path in continental Africa being unique and distinct as compared to the whole . I muse , if one were to look under the hood , Bishops of nations in conflict (eg: Nigeria ) , might have, by comparison, distinctly orthodox views given a Christian/Muslim civil war ?
