Cardinal Sarah was born on the 15 June 1945 which makes him 78. This means he is eligible to become Pope is a conclave is held in the near future.

If Francis, destroys Sarah’s credibility then the chances of Sarah being elected to Pope by his peer cardinals diminishes. I think this is the reason. Standard business practices.
