Livy on the cult of Dionysus, which was suppressed by Pagan Rome—it went too far even for them.
Notice Dionysus (Bacchus) was prominent in the infamous tableau at the Paris Olympics 2024 that mocked the Last Supper—in other words, the institution of the Holy Mass. In fact, it was said by those responsible that it was Dionysus’ body that was being dined upon—and, AFAIK, he arrived on a platter under a serving bell.
Does one need to spell out the implications here? At the sacrifice of the Mass—which is an *anamnesis*—the communicant consumes the body, blood, soul and divinity of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. At the mockery he consumes Dionysus who represents, as Livy tells us, the notion that “consider[ing] nothing wrong is the highest form of religious devotion”.
Ring any bells? This is, in other words, “Do what thou wilt …” the Thelemite motto in Rabelais—but shorn of its context (perfect agape/caritas/love). That motto also turns up in the writings of A—-r C—y (he of the Swiss hangout).
Either the people who designed those sets are more stupid than one would have thought possible and playing with symbols they don’t understand … or they meant that.
And Jorge Bergoglio, supposedly the Holy Father of Christendom, has not, as yet, said a word. His silence is deafening.
