   The vision given to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque:

   “On the feast of St. Francis [ Oct. 4, 1673 ] our Lord
   let me see IN PRAYER this great saint, clad in a
   garment of light and unspeakable brilliance. He
   had been raised above the other Saints to an extra-
   ordinarily high degree of glory, because his life was
   so like that of the suffering Redeemer who is the
   life of our souls and love of our hearts. HIS GLORY
   WAS THE REWARD OF GREAT LOVE FOR THE
   PASSION OF OUR LORD . . . ” —A. Hamon, Vie de la

   And from G.K.Chesterton on St. Francis of Assisi
   [ from Dale Alquist, G.K.Chesterton, The Apostle of
   Common Sense, Ignatius, 2003, CHAPPTER ON St.
   Francis: “He was a mirror of Christ as the moon is
   a mirror of the sun. He was a mirror of Christ b/c
   he was truly an imitator of Christ. [ St. Francis of
   Assisi ] . . was MOST INSPIRED by that part of Christ
   that the rest of us most avoid: HIS SUFFERING
   . . . [ St. Francis ] did not feel he was ‘worthy
   even of the shadow of the crown of thorns.’ But
   he apparently he WAS worthy . . even bore on
   his body the WOUNDS OF CHRIST.”
