Everything of dispute is up for debate at the coming Synod: women’s ordination, priestly celibacy, and of course, sexual morality. Always sexual morality. All of the proposed changes are rooted in vital immanence, that principle of Modernism that states that all aspects of the ‘faith experience’ must be based on the lived experience of the people.
