Most Loved Anthony,
Your topic today, shielding priests, hiding priests ,or suppressing/cancelling priests seems to be great Vatican chess game ?
For your consideration “moves” or a recent appointment, in particular Bishop Weisnburger to the Arch Diocese of Detroit, it is interesting that in this Arch Diocese there is one very good priest that has spoken out publicly – the priest definitely not of the “gay is good” crowd. While not mentioning USA leaders by name, but by words, the priest seems very supportive of new policies being implemented by governance. Now, by observation, this priest, seems to have been “given the memo”, toning down any criticism of past immigration policies (he very mild mannered even before a tone down ). By character he seems as if an Altman “very light”. .In keeping with the tone down his change of conduct suggests he may have been “flipped” and he now gives full throated support for NGO’ as suggests pure “politics”. Weisenburgers move to then suppress & improve messaging ?
Weisenburger definitely connected to the White House under Biden:

In November 2023, Bishop Edward Weisenburger of Tucson, Arizona met with White House officials to discuss climate change with then-President Joe Biden. The meeting was part of a gathering of US bishops and a Catholic sister.
Recent portion of Tucson Diocese Flock Notes news release:
After 25 years of priesthood Weisenburger was appointed the eleventh Bishop of Salina, Kansas, by His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI in 2012. Five years later in 2017, Weisenburger was appointed Bishop of Tucson by His Holiness, Pope Francis. Weisenburger is the seventh bishop to lead the Diocese of Tucson. His seven years and three months are the shortest for a bishop in diocesan history. It’s also been more than 100 years since a Tucson bishop was transferred to an archdiocese. Weisenburger has served in four dioceses, in four different provinces, and four episcopal regions of the United States, “I may be the most traveled of the bishops in the United States at this point,” he said with a laugh.
Interesting, by the details just provided above, Weisenburgers move, after a stay in Tucson of only seven years ( very short by Vatican eternal time) , a surprisingly rapid advancement from priest, to Diocese Bishop, to Diocese Arch Bishop?
All that to say…. follow the bouncing ball ?
Blessings, Dr.Scott
