I was recently made aware of an upcoming conference here in our diocese, ‘Walking with the Spirit in the World’, https://stdorothys.com/upcoming/198-walking-with-the-spirit-in-the-world. The conference description says that, “keynote speakers Bishop Michael Martin and eco-theologian Dr. Catherine Wright will bookend three workshops designed to inspire you to make meaningful impacts in your home, parish and community to address poverty, climate change and environmental justice”.
Being good stewards of what we’ve been given by God is right and just thing. However, there is big difference between doing all the right things and actually doing things right. Satan is sly and traps many who think they are doing all the right things. I’d truly hope you, Bishop Martin would not go forward with this conference, or at minimum not attend this Gaia worship conference. Here’s why:
I had never heard of the term, ‘Ecotheology’. So, I looked up the definition, “Ecotheology is a form of constructive theology that focuses on the interrelationships of religion and nature, particularly in the light of environmental concerns. Ecotheology generally starts from the premise that a relationship exists between human religious/spiritual worldviews and the degradation of nature. It explores the interaction between ecological values, such as sustainability, and the human domination of nature. The movement has produced numerous religious-environmental projects around the world”.
Since the late 1960’s, specifically 1970 (first Earth Day celebration) we’ve replaced Mother of God veneration, with full blown worship of ‘Mother Nature’. Its no coincidence that at this very time of the 1960’s and 1970’s we see the loss of; critical thinking, traditional liturgy, or the fact that most Catholics (including prelates) no longer believe in the Eucharist, but ardently believe in the lie that humans are the reason for ‘global warming’, which when people no longer believed that lie due to evidential facts the lie was changed to ‘climate change’. The definitions I read said that Ecotheology is tied to another interesting term, Ecofeminism, which Dr Wright seems to embrace, defend and sell. Just a few minute review of her website and her publications and previous conferences topics shows her potential proclivity towards, Ecofeminism. Ecofeminism is defined as “the integration of feminism and political ecology”. The definition goes on to say, “Ecofeminist thinkers draw on the concept of gender to analyze relationships between humans and the natural world. The term was coined by the French writer Françoise d’Eaubonne in her 1974, (interestingly after the Church was changing liturgies) book Le Féminisme ou la Mort. Ecofeminist theory introduces a feminist perspective to Green politics and calls for an egalitarian, collaborative society in which there is no one dominant group. Today, there are several branches of ecofeminism, with varying approaches and analyses, including liberal ecofeminism, spiritual/cultural ecofeminism, and social/socialist ecofeminism (or materialist ecofeminism). Interpretations of ecofeminism and how it might be applied to social thought include ecofeminist art, social justice and political philosophy, religion, economics, contemporary feminism, and literature.”
The definition of Ecotheology and its ties to Ecofeminism was and is, both interesting and concerning. Additionally, the definition of Ecotheology states specifically that Ecotheology is a form of ‘constructive theology’. As you know and every seminarian knows, Constructive Theology, by its very definition; “is the redefinition or reconceptualization of what historically has been known as systematic theology. Systematic theology, or systematics, formulates an orderly, rational, and coherent account of the doctrines of the Christian faith.” So, as an Ecotheologian, (which your presentation partner Bishop Martin calls herself) is focused on redefining and reconceptualizing all things that compete with, or don’t promote Constructive Theology. Ecotheologians slyly deconstructs; orderly, rational and coherent accounts of the doctrines of Christian faith under the guise of saving the planet. Ecotheology’s focus of redefining everything that competes with their pagan liturgy has to be infiltrated and changed, that includes the Catholic church. Please don’t condone nor be a part of this Bishop Martin.
Ecotheology could easily be considered Modernism or as its today known as New Age, Liberation Theology, Prosperity Theology, Gaia worship, or even the occultist practices of white witch craft, Wicca, sanitaria, etc. Who started modernism? I don’t know and I really don’t care, I’m just focused on calling it out and all those who today not only promote modernism in the Catholic Church, but are hell bent on not offending sinners under the guise of redefining the meaning of charity in hopes that church revenues will increase with cheeks in the seats. Unfortunately, these same politically correct individuals have no problem offending both the Holy Trinity and the Holy Family.
As a malformed misfit, I don’t know much theology, but I do know how to research. Here’s an essay I came across during my 30 minute research on Ecotheology, entitled, Beyond Christian Environmentalism: Ecotheology as an Over-Contextualized Theology By Andrew J. Spencer. Here’s the abstract: “When Christian theology fails to adapt to the cultural context in manner and form, it can lead to a loss of cultural relevance. Proper contextualization is essential. This essay argues that ecotheology, which is a form of liberation theology, is an example of a contextual theology that is more closely linked to the contemporary context than it is to traditional forms of Christian doctrine. Ecotheology refers to a version of contextual theology, much like feminist and Latin American liberation theologies, which interprets Scripture and Christian tradition through a controlling paradigm. As a form of contextual theology, ecotheology can be cataloged within the Praxis Model.” The Catholic church has successfully fought against this type of theological dementia being promoted in the upcoming ‘Walking with the Spirit in the World’ conference for 2 Millenia also known as; Paganism, Millenarism, Arianism, Protestantism, Satanism and others.
Bishop Martin please step away from, and don’t promote the absurdity of this conference. During the last 4 years much of humanity is waking up to the fact that we’ve been lied to and dumbed down purposely by most if not all institutions we once thought were forthright. Good news is that the light of discernment is finally starting to disinfect the infection of apathy, cowardice and self inflicted ignorance which has plagued humanity from around the same time as the introduction of Ecotheology, the EPA, Ecology, and ironically even Vatican 2, which all started in the late 60’s, early 70’s. The wacky wokeness being promoted by ecotheology, ecofeminism, contextual theology, liberation theology, modernism and the like are now being seen by those with discernment as purposeful lies promoting collectively or individually; social justice, DEI, patriarchy is the problem (especially white patriarchy), Gaia worship, man is at fault for climate change and should be hit with carbon taxing (even though real ‘science’ shows its the Sun not humans that drives the climate cycles on earth), meat production/consumption is a problem, eugenic programs promoting abortion/sterilization and if you actually survive both of those euthanasia of elderly or disabled as a way to save the planet, gasoline engines need to be replaced with electric engines (even though greater pollution is created by mining rare earth minerals for the EV batteries and coal is used to generate the electricity to recharge these batteries that only last 6 or 7 years compared with the comparative miniscule pollution caused by gas/diesel engines over their 20 year lives), and the seemingly endless list of other idiocrasies held, promoted and sold to the unaware by Ecotheologians.
Lastly, your conference Bishop is being sponsored by the largest human trafficking ring on the planet, Catholic Charities. As evidenced in their affinity to taking billions of dollars from governments, especially the US, as a 2 billion dollar funded US NGO. In spite of the countless credible articles and investigative news reports that proved that Catholic Charities and Catholic Relief Services are some of the biggest human traffickers in human history the Vatican has not disbanded these organizations, nor has the USCCB called for an investigation. CC and CRS continue to keep taking in the money and trafficking the most vulnerable, all for billions of dollars, some of which goes to local bishops and the Vatican as proven in the secular investigative reports.
Bottom line, Ecotheological hermeneutics is a method of interpreting the Bible that regards the text, (Gods word) with suspicion. The Vatican and USCCB has and continues to create enough suspicion by themselves. Bishop Martin please don’t add to this suspicion and confusion inside and outside the Catholic Church by promoting, speaking or hosting this pagan conference.
You are tasked with a lot Bishop and may have not known of the powers and principalities you are aligning yourself with in this conference. You just thought, you were doing all the right things. Let me know what you think, now that you know more.
