The hypocrisy of Hollywood is astonishing.
Stigmatist and Mystic Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2004. Her warnings to the Church have gone largely ignored.
“The Life and Revelations of Anne Catherine Emmerich”
I say part 1 because I am sure I’ll return to this topic in the future. Political Catholicism is cancer, and it’s a cancer that most often takes the oxymoronic forms of Catholic Socialism or Catholic Feminism, both of which are contradictions in terms. The Faith is not a political program, as it does not neatly fit into a political box, nor does it align itself with any form of earthly politics. At best it makes it easy to see what should be opposed, which at the moment is actually all forms of Leftism.
It is clear that we must do penance to end the scourge of abortion in America. The retirement of Justice Kennedy presents the opportunity to begin ending abortion in America, but it will most likely come at a very high price, and it’s worth paying.

“Love not the world, nor the things which are in the world. If any man love the world, the charity of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world, is the concupiscence of the flesh, and the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life, which is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the concupiscence thereof: but he that doth the will of God, abideth for ever. Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that Antichrist cometh, even now there are become many Antichrists: whereby we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us. For if they had been of us, they would no doubt have remained with us; but that they may be manifest, that they are not all of us. But you have the unction from the Holy One, and know all things,” 1 John 2:15-20
You know that there are problems when the media is fawning over something done by a prelate of the Church. This is especially true of Pope Francis, who recently told a victim of clerical sex abuse that his same sex attraction was okay because ‘God made him that way.’ Aside from the total lack of scientific evidence supporting the idea that SSA is natural or genetic, statements like this fly in the face of 2000 years of Catholic tradition and Scripture. And we can bet that the mainstream Catholic media will be scrambling to explain how statements like these are fully in keeping with the teachings of the Church. It would be amusing if the stakes weren’t the salvation of souls.
For those not quite familiar with what the Church has always said about Same Sex Attraction, let’s look to St. Augustine of Hippo: “Those offences which be contrary to nature are everywhere and at all times to be held in detestation and punished; such were those of the Sodomites, which should all nations commit, they should all be held guilty of the same crime by the divine law, which hath not so made men that they should in that way abuse one another. For even that fellowship which should be between God and us is violated, when that same nature of which He is author is polluted by the perversity of lust,” (Confessions Book III).
These sins violate the relationship between humanity and God. That is the nature of sin. But same sex attraction constitutes something more. It is a sin that cries to heaven for justice (Gen. 19:5-13). God punishes societies, including the people of God themselves. Chastisement is coming for all of us. Do penance.

“We believed that after the [Second Vatican] Council would come a day of sunshine in the history of the Church. But instead there has come a day of clouds and storms, and of darkness … “And how did this come about? We will confide to you the thought that maybe we ourselves admit in free discussion, that may be unfounded, and that is that there has been a power, an adversary power. Let us call him by his name: the Devil. … It is as if from some mysterious crack, no, it is not mysterious, from some crack the smoke of Satan has entered the Temple of God.”Pope Paul VI, 29 June 1972
Catholic media has been on fire lately, all-but unified in its condemnation of a show straight out of Masonic Clown World. That show was the MET GALA, endorsed and supported by Cardinal Archbishop Dolan and Jesuit-LGBTQWERTY priest Father James Martin, featuring all manner of scandalous Hollywood elite bedecked in finery that mocked the Catholic faith. The purpose, we’re told, was to highlight the ‘Catholic imagination’ that we see in the art, liturgy, and external signs of faith. Yet what we saw was clearly a lampooning of the faith.
Many lay-faithful were rightly outraged. Most concerning though was comments I saw in an online Catholic group where several laypersons asked the timeless questions of “how do we expect to get the respect of the world if we don’t lighten up? When did Catholics become such sticks in the mud?” I suppose it’s easy to be confused about why people are so mad about Our Lady being mocked by Hollywood celebrities dressed in incredibly immodest dresses, or Rihanna wearing a costume designed to mock bishops. But last I checked we weren’t supposed to seek out the respect of the world. Instead, we were called to be salt and light, to be a sign of hope. It’s hard to be a sign of hope when you blend in to the crowd.
Pope Paul VI spoke in 1972 about a ‘diabolic disorientation’ that had entered the Church in the aftermath of the Second Vatican Council. Many commentators have spoken at length about what that means, and in due time I’ll contribute to that discourse. For now, all I will add is that this ‘diabolic disorientation’ must include the seeming inability of the vast majority of lay faithful to recognize evil when we see it, especially when our ancestors in the faith would have easily recognized great evil when they saw it. The smoke fills our senses, making finding the truth hard.
This blog will at least partially document my search for the truth about the state of the Church. Keep me in your prayers and I’ll keep you in mine.
